Marionberry
Rubus L. subgenus Rubus
USDA Hardiness Zone 6-9
Marionberry is a blackberry cultivar that has raspberry and loganberry DNA in its lineage. It is considered to be THE blackberry in terms of flavor. Sweet and tart in a delicate balance without the bitterness associated with wild blackberries. Self pollinating and has thorns.
Marionberry is rated as Zone 6 hardy, which is borderline for most of the Front Range (Zone 5B). Marionberry's excellent flavor makes it worth growing despite the potential for loss in exceptionally cold winters (colder than -10F). Recommend planting with southern exposure avoiding low lying areas where pockets of cold air settle to minimize the chance of loss.
